As you probably know from my last blog I’m the only SAS (Secret Agent Society) facilitator in west Melbourne. SAS is a great way to help children improve their social skills in a fun and friendly environment. It’s also easy to use it to assess how children have improved over the course and produces results 70% of the time. You can read more about this great way to improve the social skills of young Autistic children here.
As part of the expansion I’ve been searching for the perfect venue to hold the courses. I think that I’ve found it in Kindred Studios in Yarraville. It’s a hugely welcoming environment and I think will be the perfect place to run the SAS courses. It’s quite a funky space for the funky SAS social club!
Currently I’m running Friday courses in the deluxe room and the Saturday courses in rehearsal room eight. If you know Kindred Studios you’ll know that it’s part of the music department of Victoria University. As such the rooms we’ll be using for the Secret Agent Society meeting are recording studios which means they’re completely sound proofed. So conditions are great for the SAS and especially good if your child has Auditory or Sensory processing disorders. It’s a very nurturing environment.
The studios them selves are fun and welcoming. There’s a café on site serving food as well as coffees and other drinks. The main space even has table tennis! If you’re interested in a peak at Kindred Studios you can visit their website here if you’d like to take a virtual tour you can see the deluxe room here and room number 8 here .
Parking is easy and free and there’s plenty of it nearby. In addition to the café and friendly inside space it’s right next to Yarraville gardens a large local park where you can do dog walking or take a sibling to play in the play area.
